Never go to bed without thinking about God and always say your night prayers. Our Lord has showered you with so many spiritual and temporal graces over the past day that it would be unforgivable ingratitude to collect you as irrational creatures do. Who knows if this night will be your last! Therefore, pray the following prayers fervently and do a good examination of conscience. Kneel before our crucified Lord and pray:

O my God, I thank you for having preserved my life during this day; I ask you to preserve me during this night and preserve me from all sin. I offer you this sleep and I intend to love, praise and thank you as the angels and saints do in heaven every time I breathe.
O Mary, my Mother, bless me and cover me with the mantle of your protection. My good guardian angel, my holy protectors, intercede for me.

Then pray 3 Hail Marys in honor of the purity of the SS. Virgin Mary and do a brief examination of conscience: Examine, for just a few minutes, your conscience, remembering the sins you committed today through thoughts, words, acts and omissions!
1. In your prayers and other exercises of piety (pause).
2. In respect and docility towards your parents and superiors, as well as in fulfilling your obligations (pause).
3. Take care of your senses, particularly your sight and tongue: if
you have spoken ill of your neighbor: if you have uttered any rude or dishonest word (pause).
4. In actions, thoughts and affections; if there was anything less dignified or disorderly (pause).
5. In the exercise of charity, if you mistreated your neighbor and if, being able to help someone
poor thing, you stopped doing it (pause).
Once this examination is complete, pray the following prayer:

My God, I love you with all my heart and above all things, because you are infinitely good and worthy of being loved; I also love my neighbor as myself for your sake. My God, I repent of all my sins, because with them I offended you, O infinite Goodness; From the bottom of my heart, I deplore them and I have more horror than all evils. Helped with your grace, which I ask you to grant me now and always, resolved that I would rather die than give you grief again.

For the souls

God of goodness and mercy, have mercy on the blessed souls of the faithful who are suffering in purgatory; Give them eternal rest soon and give them perpetual light. Amen.

Prayer

To obtain the plenary indulgence at the moment of death:

My Lord and my God, from this day forward I very willingly accept, as a just thing, coming from your hand, the kind of death that you have pleased to send me, with all its pains, all its pains and all its anguish.

Then pray to the Angel of the Lord, as in the morning; lie down and pray more with your heart than with your spirit:

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I give you my heart and my soul.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph, assist me in my last agony.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph, into your arms receive my soul.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
